Since its inception in April 2003 until end of 2009 (data as on January 1st 2010, to be updated periodically), RizScholars has facilitated the graduation of 68 Scholars in professional studies, ranging from 4 year programs to 6 year extended programs. Scholars have taken their degrees from 16 different universities in 8 disciplines; veterinary sciences, agricultural sciences, various engineering disciplines, medicine, mechatronix, marine sciences, education/teaching and ICT-related sciences. Male-female ratio is 3:1 and we are attempting to correct gender balance. At any given time, we retain no more than 250 Scholars since, with financial constraints, we can not ensure availability of funds for full program completion (as committed by us to the Scholars) for a larger number.
We make sure that all successful candidates understand that they have won scholarships on merit, based upon their exceptional academic record. While scholarship stipends are sourced from donations, zakat and corporate social responsibility contributions, our Scholars’ are not disrespected by making references to “charity”. We appreciate and celebrate the dignity and positive spirit with which young Pakistanis pursue their dreams despite extreme economic challenges.
